DJ Gilbert Matthews welcomes you to "Awfully Awesome 80's," a 24/7 internet radio station whose main goal is to play every tune that appeared on MTV's playlist between August of 1981 and December of 1989! As of February 1, 2019, the rotation will be expanded to include hits and misses from the late 70's and early to mid 90's that had connections to 80's artists! We will also include lost and classic top 40 hits from the entire decade as well as tunes that aired on MTV's specialized shows such as "Headbanger's Ball," "120 Minutes," "The Basement Tapes," etc. 80's tunes that never had videos or that only aired on non-MTV outlets such as WTBS Night Tracks, VH-1, BET, HBO Video Jukebox, etc. will also be eligible! Every hour, you will hear either 3 or 4 80's "Bottom 45's," which means tunes that peaked south of the top 40, tunes that didn't chart at all, or tunes that only charted in Canada, the UK or Australia. When it comes to "Awfully Awesome 80's," too much 80's is definitely never enough!

NEW ADDS FOR 4/7

It's time for some more new adds, rotation replacements, requests, and some potential head scratchers on Awfully Awesome 80's:

Top 40:

1. The System - Don't Disturb This Groove - '87
2. Glass Tiger - I'm Still Searching - '88
3. Juice Newton - Heart Of The Night - '82(requested)
4. Chris De Burgh - Don't Pay The Ferryman - '83
5. Saga - On The Loose - '82
6. Richard Marx - Should've Known Better - '87
7. The Jets - Make It Real - '88
8. Charlie Sexton - Beat's So Lonely - '85
9. David Lee Roth - Just Like Paradise - '88
10. Eurythmics - There Must Be An Angel(Playing With My Heart) - '85(requested)
11. Larry Graham - One In A Million You - '80

Bottom 45's/Non-Charters:

12. Bad Company - Shake It Up - '89
13. New Frontier - Under Fire - '88
14. Wax - Right Between The Eyes - '86
15. Stryper - Always There For You - '88
16. Precious Metal - Bad Guys - '85
17. Nicolette Larson - That's How You Know When Love's Right - '86(Duet With Steve Wariner - requested)

I know some of you are saying "Who are Precious Metal, Wax and New Frontier?" Awfully Awesome 80's not only spins the decade's hits and misses, but its ultimate goal is to present a nearly thorough "audio history of MTV, VH-1, BET, etc." This means giving some love to those artists that never got beyond breakout rotation(in other words, a 3 AM spin!). A lot of you would say that some of those artists deserved their fate, but if you stuck around long enough, you would find a few gems in the rubble!

Tune into the station at http://awfullyawesomeeighties.com, join our Facebook group, and don't be afraid to submit a challenging request! Coming up next week will be forgotten tunes from Cruzados, I Am Siam, Gamma, Hugh Cornwell, etc. and of course more of the classic hits!
